I Dont Have It Figured Out

When I think back on the path that my life has taken, I feel like I got off to an early start of  "adulting". Engaged in high school, we bought a house, married by 20, first baby by 21... A lot in such a small amount of time. I started nursing school right out of high school and graduated. Peers would see me out and about and ask about life and when they would learn of all that had been done they would say "You've got it figured out", or "You've got your stuff together". 

I can see why someone would think that, but honestly, no I don't have it figured out at all actually.  Literally every day, my mind is exploring other options and other career paths and journeys in life. I have no idea of what exactly I want to do. In reality I don't want to figure it out. I love doing different things and not committing myself to one set path in life.  That would just take the fun out of LIVING. How boring would it be to just be content?  Never striving for more, or finding new things to be passionate about... it just sounds all too dull to me. 

There is nothing wrong with not having it together.  If you are not satisfied with your job at the moment or where you are in life, its okay!  You don't have to have it figured out.  It really doesn't matter how old you are, or what your "peers" have that you don't, because they are probably just trying to figure it out too.  Maybe, you've had a rough spot in life that you've traveled through and you feel that it put you behind schedule... Really you are right on track.  You are exactly where you need to be right now.

Soak in this time and never sell yourself short of new opportunity and don't beat yourself up about past decisions.  You cant change those, and even if you did go through a series of unfortunate events (& if you are reading this right now you will know that I am talking to you too), even in that slump you were right where you were meant to be.  It made you a better you today and that is something that you should be oh so proud of.  So chin up and keep on pushing along. 

You will get where you want to be, and if you are anything like me it may be a veryyyyy long time from now, but maybe one day we might look back and say that we've got it all figured out. By then, I'll probably be knockin' on 100.
